Designing Your Yacht
The standard design and equipment list for your selected model will be presented along with a list of factory-installed optional and additional equipment. Custom built-ins such as gas grills, wine coolers, flybridge and aft deck restraints for toddlers or pets, and other personal amenities may be submitted for quotes. The purchase agreement will record agreed specifications and options in a straightforward legal document. Upon execution of the purchase agreement and receipt of the purchase deposit, the order will be submitted to POCTA. The final balance is due prior to shipping from China, upon completion of construction, and satisfactory inspection and systems testing.

Additional desired equipment such as electronics packages, davit system, dinghy, and stabilizers can be quoted and scheduled for installation during commissioning of your yacht. We will strive to meet your cruising lifestyle needs, and our recommendations will consider your entertaining requirements, guest accommodations, any medical issues, and your planned cruising destinations.

POCTA provides a manufacturer’s limited warranty, while installed equipment carries its own warranty.

Factory Construction and Vessel Inspection
A timeline for construction of your DeFever will be determined by POCTA, based on current orders in production. With the inception of your yacht’s construction, a series of quality control inspections will be conducted to ensure proper execution of your specifications. Progress will be documented with emailed photographs for your portfolio. Final selection of some options will be completed during this phase, and adjustments may be made to fine tune original choices to meet your expectations.

A visit to the POCTA shipyard in Suzhou to observe craftsman and engineers building your DeFever is a recommended adventure. Wilson Lin, CEO, is a gracious host, rightfully proud of his product, his facility and the cities of Suzhou and nearby Shanghai.  Exceptional prices for luxurious hotel accommodations, fine dining, cultural attractions and shopping are prevalent.  Rick Nissen, the president of Atlantic Yacht Works, will travel to China to conduct a personal inspection of your DeFever to ensure that all of your specifications have been met.

Each vessel is launched into a 40,000 sq. ft. water test tank to confirm proper function of all engines and systems requiring raw water circulation. Then a final rigorous checklist of tests, trials and inspections of construction materials and all mechanical, electrical, electronic and plumbing systems is conducted by technicians and engineers prior to shipping.

The vessel is loaded onto a huge cradle on a barge to travel the canal system to the port of Shanghai. From there it is then lifted and loaded onto a freighter and secured in its cradle for delivery to its United States destination.

Delivery and Commissioning
Atlantic Yacht Works will take delivery of the vessel at a port along the Mid-Atlantic Coast for commissioning at Kent Narrows, Maryland. A late autumn or winter delivery will be taken at Port of Palm Beach for commissioning in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The service department of C & C Charters Maryland will complete an extensive checklist of commissioning requirements from pre-launch off ship, to systems checks, installations, sea trial and final prep for presentation to owner.
Orientation and Sea Trial
We want you to be confident and safe aboard your new DeFever, so you may relax and enjoy cruising. A complete and thorough review of all systems will be conducted with sufficient time for questions and practical application. The celebratory owner’s sea trial will give you the first thrill of piloting your impressive yacht. We highly recommend that new owners allot some time to cruise the waters of the Chesapeake in proximity to our location to become familiar with the vessel, and so we may address any arising issues or new requests.
Support for Your Cruising Lifestyle

Atlantic Yacht Works will be your go-to-source should you have questions or concerns about your DeFever, need technical support, have issues involving cruising, or want product recommendations.
